Austin Trauma Therapist
EMDR, IFS, and Trauma-Focused CBT with a Licensed Professional Counselor who has spent eight years in this work — and paces sessions accordingly.
Trauma doesn't always look like the movies. Sometimes it's the memory that keeps replaying. Sometimes it's the panic that arrives for no reason, the shutdown after a small conflict, the exhaustion of holding it all together, or a body that refuses to feel safe.
Brittany Zientek, LPC, is an Austin trauma therapist trained in EMDR and Internal Family Systems. She works with single-incident trauma, complex PTSD, religious trauma, and the quieter presentations that don't have a clean diagnostic label.
What we treat
- • Single-incident trauma (accident, assault, medical event, loss)
- • Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) and developmental trauma
- • Religious trauma and church hurt
- • Trauma-linked anxiety, panic, and hypervigilance
- • Emotional numbing, dissociation, and shutdown
- • Trauma that shows up as chronic self-criticism or perfectionism
How we work
We start slowly. Before any trauma reprocessing, we build stabilization — the internal and external resources your system needs to feel safe enough to do the work. Then EMDR and IFS as indicated, at a pace your nervous system can actually integrate.

FAQ
Common questions
What kind of trauma do you treat?
Single-incident trauma, complex PTSD (C-PTSD), childhood trauma, religious trauma, medical trauma, and the quieter forms — the ones that show up as anxiety, hypervigilance, disconnection, or shutdown rather than obvious flashbacks.
What trauma therapies do you use?
Primarily EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS), with Trauma-Focused CBT and somatic elements as fit. The blend depends on your nervous system and history.
Are you trained in EMDR?
Yes. Brittany is EMDR-trained and uses it regularly with adult trauma clients. EMDR helps the brain reprocess stuck memories so they stop hijacking the present.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Single-incident trauma often resolves in 8–20 sessions. Complex trauma is a longer-arc process — usually 6–18 months of consistent weekly work, sometimes more. You set the pace.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes — EMDR and IFS both work well by secure video. In-person available at our Northwest Austin office (3301 Northland Dr, Ste 218, 78731).
Do you take insurance?
In-network through Headway with Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford, and Anthem. Self-pay $130–$225. Superbills available.
